Art on theMART Illuminates the Holidays Near The Sinclair

With all of the things you can see and do this holiday season, you don’t hear the word ‘free’ very often. For one festive event that won’t cost you a dime, visit Art on theMART on Wacker Drive in the Chicago Riverwalk. The riverfront building between Wells and Franklin Streets will be illuminated twice each night with gorgeous art and scenes from The Joffrey Ballet’s The Nutcracker. The current rotation of pieces includes Monet’s Poppy Field and Bisa Butler’s The Princess and Anaya with Oranges. The art and artistry take on new dimension when projected onto the side of a historic building, and the sheer size of the colorful pieces is something to behold.

Art on theMART takes place each evening (now through December 30) at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and lasts roughly 30 minutes. The best place to view it is on the jetty across from the building, and this year, limited capacity and face coverings are required. So leave your wallet at home, bring your mask, and take in the impressive displays at Art on theMART.
