January 10th, 2019
Happy New Year! Now that January is finally upon us, it’s time to start going after your New Year’s goals and resolutions with full force. Creating an environment that’s conducive to your goals is essential to helping you accomplish them. Living at The Sinclair, it’s easy to create an environment that will encourage your success. Here’s how you can decorate your space to set yourself up for success in 2019.
In sight, in mind
We’re all familiar with the phrase “out of sight, out of mind,” but did you ever think about its opposite? By putting things that remind you of your goal in front of you on a daily basis, your brain will be more likely to think of your goal and work to accomplish it. Let’s say you want to do yoga every morning. By setting your yoga mat out the night before, you’re more likely to get up and practice your tree pose the next morning. This concept is also what drives the vision board phenomenon.
Clear the clutter
Before you get started on achieving your 2019 New Year’s goals, it’s essential to clear out the emotional, mental and physical clutter of 2018. Sort through and throw away or donate what no longer serves you and make space for the new. Consider adopting a few plants to foster a calm energy throughout your space.
Distractions are commonplace in the digital age and those pinging notifications can end up sabotaging your goals if you’re not careful. You can avoid distraction and inspire more focus within yourself by powering down your digital devices a few hours before bed each night. If your goal is to read 100 books this year, but you spend your evenings scrolling through Instagram, chances are you won’t quite make it to 100. By creating the habit of turning off your devices at night, you’ll not only create time to decompress and enjoy the presence of loved ones, but you’ll also create space to accomplish a goal or work on a side hustle.
Best of luck as you begin to crush your New Year’s goals! We hope these tips help inspire you and keep you motivated during the year ahead.
